Add Read More/Continue Reading feature to your Blogger.

You have seen Read More/Continue Reading feature to many wordpress blogs. Some Blogspot users also try to get it but they were need to add complex codes. But now you can easily add this useful feature to your blog.

How to get this feature

1. You will need to switch to New Post Editor for Blogger

2. After that you will get some new buttons on your post editor. Go to Create a new post. Type matter. Now press Insert Jump Break button from your new post editor.




You will get a GREY line. Matter that is above grey line is visible on home page of your site and matter bellow that grey line will be visible when a user click on Read More Link.

3. You can change Read More text to your favorite(like more details/continue reading) as follows. Go to Layout >> Page Elements >> Blog Posts >> Edit and change text in  Post page link text:.

4. If you are using third party blogger template you will need a code so that this Read More feature will be completely work. Go to  Layout >> Edit HTML >> Download Full Template >> Expand Widget Templates. Look for

<data:post.body/>



Now add following code below it:

<b:if cond='data:post.hasJumpLink'>
<div class='jump-link'>
<a expr:href='data:post.url + "#more"'><data:post.jumpText/></a>
</div>
</b:if >



Now Save Template.

Thank you SO much for this. I have been trying to find a way to add one of these links, for a couple of weeks. I'm not great with computers, so adding a bunch of codes was nearly impossible for me.

Wonderful! I will definitely try this when I'm less tired.

Quick question, though: is there any way to automatically change all of my older posts to having the "read more" feature without having to change each individual post? I have about 150 posts and it would take forever to get them all changed. Thanks!

Right now there is no any way to do this. You have to do it manually.

when i add

the line break option

then my whole third column goes down...
what could be the error

Well this feature is by Blogger itself. So it should not have any errors!

Show only 2/3 posts on your homepage.

@drraman i have to add this link but i dont know, as i am writing about jobs on fresher here is the link http://jobsansaar.blogspot.com/2010/07/freshers_21.html

it is going to be bigger and bigger, how could i replace each job to 3-4 lines and then read more link.

also i want to display this in boxes as you did
in your blog here http://www.blogger-help.com/search/label/blogger%20hacks/tips?&max-results=6

please help me in this, i want to implement the same thing as you did.

Well there is no such facility in Blogger. I will suggest you to create separate posts and then link in
